Even though this is linked to a game, it is only tangentially related to gaming.
Tomorrow at roughly 1pm my wife Sarah (Jezmyn around these parts) and I will have been married for ten years. Saturday, August 14th, 1999 was when we tied the knot, and I have not regretted a single minute. She's grown to love games as much as I do, which is a good thing because I tend to start lecturing about them at the slightest provocation.
I know not everybody here will care, or even know who the hell I am, but this is a very important moment in my life, and I wanted to share it with a community that means a lot to me. That would be gDNA, for those of you out there who aren't quite running on all 8 cylinders. I kid because I love.
I know how you feel. In September, my husband and I will be having our 12th anniversary. We're much the same as you two. Both big gamers (tabletop/PC/console) and it's one of the things that we love to do together.
Here's to many more years together for you two! *raises a glass o' Mt. Dew in celebration*
Thank you! I'll raise a glass to many years for us as well as you and your husband! Although I prefer I nice stout or belgian-style ale. Personal preference. :)
Congratz, nice to see that I am not the only semi-old fart here {I have been married going on 16 years now}. 10 yrs really does say a lot for you, people seem to get divorced WAY to much nowadays, its not like Leave it to Beaver anymore. Oh BTW I will raise my Michelob Ultra to you {and yours} today before I press the "Big X" on the controller.....8^)
It's heartening to not only hear the congratulations from everybody, but to hear that there are so many that are married and have been for some time. Is it true that the family that games together stays together? Or is that too generalized?
Well my kids are 4, 2, and 4 months.... :) So they aren't really gaming yet... although my 4 year old is good at those plug-in-tv Dora joystick games and such... probably get a Wii this christmas for the fam.
My wife was into Jewel Quest on the Xbox 360 for awhile... And she played lots of Super Puzzle Fighter on the PS2... and she wants to get a Wii for Wii Fit... so maybe I can turn her into a gamer yet!
If she likes stories, start playing RPGs around her. FFVII is what started it for my wife. She played a bit of VIII, then played through Chrono Cross and FFIX by herself. I was so proud. :)
I know my boy is on his way to being a gamer. He's only 4 but he does well with the Dora and Diego games on the PC. He also loves to help me play Sacred 2. (I have the blood turned off.)
We also play board games together. Mostly Candy Land. Lots and lots and lots of Candy Land.....
congrats dude. You've hit a milestone MANY married folk never get within sight of. It's a testament to your wife's sheer will that she put up with you for TEN YEARS!! .....XD..I'm j/k j/k j/k!! Honestly though, congrats to the both of you.
Gratz to you and your wife! It really is exciting to reach that mark. My hubby and I are coming up on our 11th : ). Here's to many many more happy and game filled years together, for all of us!
Cheers to you and your wife on your 10 year anniversary, Commitment kept is special and I am sure the gaming helped having a common passion always does.
@mykalgaidin Hate to remind you of of this babe. You had dated before me. Although I LOVE the idea that after you met me you suddenly had no memory of any other dates you had been on. :) I've trained you well.
Aww grats :) I'm glad you both found something you really enjoy together too lol my whole family pretty much plays games as well, my parents actually met on runescape and have been talking to each other and eventually dating ever since. Now they play WoW which I'm not fond of but my step-brother plays it so he got them into it :P
We also play WOW. Well, we will be again when we have the money to get our next subscription. :) And at the moment we are going through FFXII together.
Cataclysm will ruin WoW, its effectively turning the areas you've visited into areas that have been changed by the quests (like the entire landscape), i can't abide by that to be honest
not consquences, if you do all of the Ashvale sidequests, they transform the place for you into what it looks like after the conclusion of the quest line. So the whole Ashvale area will be REDONE to suit the quests conclusions need
@Mishy I'm pretty agreed with you there mishy...changing the entire game while it might seem fun just seems like way too much. The new races are kind of dumb as well...there's no new classes and sorry but the whole deathknight business was straight up stupid I really hope they aren't planning on making more "god classes". It *could*have been done correctly but they basically just made an overpowered class then nerfed it in some strange ways.
I personally would have loved the idea of some sort of "God-class only arena" and then they just start making some god classes that are hybrids with some interesting new skills and make it so all the regular classes are separate from them as far as PvP and maybe the raids/instances. Of course that would divide population and whatnot but I'm sure they could manage.

Congratulations to everybody else celebrating a happy marriage and perhaps having future gamer children too, of course.
Sorry if I'm late with the congrats I just saw this post for the first time JUST now.
I'm glad I see people who's marriage seem to be working out.
I'll be celebrating my first wedding aniversary this September. Hopefully my marriage will work out as well as yours. ;)
Again, congratulations and goodluck on the years to come :)
Do you use your breasts for evil or for good = P
